DAAP Build Lab, Remote Vans, P&G
My most recent Co-Op was spent as a shop coordinator at the DAAP build lab. While there, I was in charge of leading shop orientations for incoming students, performing maintenance on shop machinery, and answering student fabrication questions. Any down time was spent learning and strengthening fabrication skills through personal projects.
My third Co-Op was spent at a Cincinnati-based van conversion company. At Remote Vans, I was a lead designer with a plethora of responsibilities. While there, I was in charge of creating low-tolerance, lightweight, sheet metal solutions for the Mercedes Sprinter Vans. I also had the task of placing purchase orders for all metal parts sourced from third-party fabricators. My day-to-day jobs ranged from running the CNC to leading the fabrication team in the assembly of my designed parts.
My first two Co-Op rotations were spent at Procter and Gamble. Here, I worked first as a product designer; then, on my second rotation, I was an innovation designer. I was given the opportunity to work on packaging redesign solutions for big-name brands including Swiffer, Mr. Clean, and Microban. I was also given the chance to serve on a team researching and designing a breakthrough product in the bug-repellent industry. My day-to-day jobs at P&G included product benchmarking, creating presentations, sketching, and physical prototyping.
